Definition: Fiber-optic sights are sights for a rifle or handgun that use brightly-colored inserts of fiber optic material to make them more visible. Sometimes just the front sight will feature fiber optics (often orange), and sometimes the rear sight will feature a contrasting color to help with sight alignment.
These sights are usually excellent, much more useful than conventional sights - but care must be taken to avoid damaging the sometimes-fragile plastic insert(s).
Pronunciation: fy-ber op-tik sites
Examples: "...a nice modern set of Williams fiber-optic sights on it in case I need to revert to open sights to comply with regulations..."
