FireTacks Trail Markers

The Bottom Line

FireTacks Trail Markers are some of the most interesting and effective trail marking items I have ever used. I tried them on a deer hunt and had no problems at all finding my way, even though I spaced them quite a bit farther apart than I normally would when marking a trail. All in all these are the best reflective trail markers I have seen or used.
Pros
  • Reflects light from just about any angle - very brightly.
  • 3D design means you can use fewer markers, yet get better results.
  • Easily reusable.
Cons
  • Using the brighter colors, your trail is visible in the daylight (but Stealth color is available).
  • Bulkier than "old-fashioned" reflective tacks.

Description

  • Tacks in a variety of shapes and colors with 3M reflective tape, for finding your way in the dark.
  • One 3D FireTack will do the work of two or more regular reflector tacks.
  • Available in 3D, 4D, and flat (HotDot) versions.
  • FireTape adhesive markers (stickers) are also available, which work very well.
  • Reflects even when wet.
  • Made in USA.

Guide Review - FireTacks Trail Markers

FireTacks Trail Markers are super-reflective tacks meant for marking your trail so you can find your way easily at night, as long as you have a light. They work very well. I especially like the 3D tacks, because instead of sticking 2 tacks into a tree (one for going to your stand before daylight and another for coming out after dark), I can simply stick one 3D FireTack into the side of a tree where it's visible coming and going.

Since FireTacks reflect light at almost any angle, you don't have to worry about getting them perfectly square with your path, or putting them at eye level. Just stick 'em in and go! You can also get away with placing your markers farther apart than usual, because FireTacks are so reflective.

You may not want your trail to be visible in the daylight, and if that's the case then try the Stealth color - it's a medium-brown color but it reflects very nicely after dark. Or, use the bright colors so you can see your markers day or night. The FireTacks people tell you to keep your light at eye level for best results. I used a Princeton Tec headlight and had no problem whatsoever seeing the tacks, even at 20 to 30 yards.

These are the best reflective trail markers I have seen or used.
